Yesterday I saw on Noble Actual (A bungie blog by the creative director on Halo) that there would be a huge bomb about the Halo: Reach multiplayer dropped. Now, I'm going to show you that bomb. I was delightedly surprised, let's just say!

Hey guys,
Lately as we all have noticed there hasn't been much activity from new members. I, for one, am hoping to recruit some new ones who will be actual dedicated members. So this is just a heads-up for you guys to really try and ask your friends to check out the site. I know it's hard, when we're not repaying you directly in return, but we are providing you with an amazing website with some great tutorials all for free. Plus, more members makes for booming popularity meaning more and more tips, tricks, and tutorials. In a way, it's a win-win.
All I ask is that you tell just one or two people on your Live friends list to come onto DG. If we all do this, we can hopefully start seeing tons of new topics and posts soon.
Also, let us know if there's any suggestions you want to see!

Apple Finally Releases It........
Johnnyboi
- 01-27-10 13:44 - 13 comments
Oh the rumors, the precious rumors. We all know what rumors I'm talking about: the Apple Tablet.
Called the "iSlate" and "iTablet" by numerous reporters, the world has been on its toes waiting for its release. Finally at 8 AM this morning, Apple showed us the iPad.
The iPad is an exact copy of the iPhone; it has a dock, a SpringBoard, and a little Home button at the bottom. The iPad will run all of your favorite iPhone applications, and will resize any of your current ones, to fit its new massive display. Not only will it include already in production iPhone apps, but native applications as well. Picture playing Call of Duty on a 10" screen...and just tapping your next victim. Or browsing the web and touching what you want to read. That's the purpose.
The iPad will have some revolutionary new features. With iWork on board, you can create stunning documents, spreadsheets, and slideshows with a swipe of your finger. College students will love it, as they'll be able to take notes on a broadcasted Congress Address through the iPad in their lap; then send it right to their professor. And with the built-in iBook, you can easily download and read just as with the Kindle, and feel like a book is in your hand.

There are no ends to the possibilities to this new device. Even Moms will love the amazing speed in downloading a recipe straight onto its little device, and have it cooking along side them. It obviously is not meant to defeat the purpose of the iPhone, as no one wants to carry a 9.7" display in their pocket. Nonetheless, it is amazing for home and office use.
Prices start at $499 for a 16GB device, ranging up to $699 for a 64 GB device. The iPad will also be sold for $130 more for a 3G version (plus an extra $14-$29.99 a month for AT&T's 3G service. **Note no contracts, so can be cancelled at any time and enabled straight from the device). Both versions will remain in standby mode for about two months.

"The iPhone Saved My Life"
Johnnyboi
- 01-20-10 17:46 - 2 comments
"The iPhone saved my life." - The person who said this wasn't a techie who just discovered how much better the iPhone is than his old Motorola Flip phone. Nor was he a geek who is too overly obsessed with the latest gadgets. In fact, he is a Haiti earthquake survivor, and he wasn't kidding.
Dan Wooley, while filming a documentary of the poor, struggling conditions of Haiti, had been crushed by a landslide of debris. He turned to, yes, his iPhone for help. The first thing on his list: find a proper place to wait for help. Using his iPhone camera, he took pictures of the surrounding area to view just exactly what was around him. After a few minutes, he pulled himself to a safer area for the time being.
While using the app Pocket First Aid and CPR, this young man had treated a leg and head wound....all alone....through multiple aftershocks....in an elevator shaft. The app also alerted him the dangers of falling asleep, as it could cause potentially fatal problems. Using iPhone's basic clock, Wooley had an alarm sound every 20 minutes to keep him awake.
64 hours later, Wooley was saved.
If you would like to donate to Haiti, please visit Yéle Haiti, or text "HAITI" to 90999 (USA). Haiti earthquake victims need all the care and support they can get in this struggling time of need.

John has been a loyal member for a very long time. There have been some rough times a very long time ago. But people move on, and forgive each other. John also makes very authentic posts that he not only writes himself, but includes good grammar.
Without further ado, Congratulations on our new moderator: John.
He never has asked me to be a moderator, and is just an overall good member. He has earned a position as a valued member of the community. I understand some of you are active and try to post often, but posting the fastest you possibly can is not what will give you moderator.
Part of it is the quality of your posts, and the objectivity rather than just opinionated replies. Johns replies weigh both sides of a post rather than 'taking sides' and furthermore entrusting him as exceptional staff member. While listening to what is a requirement of staff members, I believe he will also take in the members' needs as well.

EDIT: This is the xbox portion check other post for full keynote. To see the full version (previous post) click here.
It's that time of year and everyones favourite electronics show is back! CES kicked off today and to celebrate, I have a CES wallpaper on my computer (link to it)!
Here is the much anticipated Mircosoft press conference. I haven't watched it yet but i will comment once i have finished.
I have two essential comments
1. he never said anything about FPS games and natal. hopefully we'll find more out about that.
2. "Buy games on your xbox and play them on a pc" He's probably referencing the game room, but maybe he means more than that. doesn't hurt to be hopeful.

Burj Dubai - Tallest Building in the world!
Michael
- 01-04-10 07:09 - 24 comments
After following the construction of the Burj Dubai for a couple years, it was a surprise yesterday to find out that it was officially open up to the public (or at least the owners of inner real-estate). It's been in construction since 2004, and was to be opened either early 2009 or 2010.
The developers have unofficially claimed the tower to be 818 metres, with about 160 floors. It will also be the first to feature the worlds tallest night club. It will feature various exercise facilities, a shopping centre, indoor and (unnervingly) outdoor pool.

Figure 1: The name Burj Dubai literally stands for Tower Dubai, or in English (flipped), Dubai Tower, seeing as Arabic is written backwards compared to english and other languages. Its name matches the Dubai Fountain, the worlds largest fountain.

Figure 2: Mid-near end construction on Dubai Tower [Burj Dubai]

Figure 3: End construction/opening. Did they accidentally forget to name it 'Pimpin' Tower'?
I'll speak for all of us here -- I would hate to be the one(s) cleaning those windows. Oh, and this picture looks awesome.

New Years Resolution/Happy New Year!
Michael
- 01-01-10 00:47 - 4 comments
Happy 2010, DG! From where I am, it has officially ben 1 hour and 47 minutes from the time this was posted since the switch from '09 to '10. It's gunna be weird dating papers as all throughout my school years there's always been an '0' before the year haha.
Anyways! I thought I might as well list my New Years Resolution. My resolution is to have a cumulative member count of 1000 or more, by this time next year. If we just so happen to have 1250 members or more and are gaining revenue, then I will personally prize a Retail Xbox 360 to a random active member.
Besides dealing with the site I hope to have a better year, not only on the site, but at school, etc. Seeing as I have final exams coming up, it would be cool to do alright on them (math is the only important one). What's your resolutions? And can you help to spread the word of our awesome community?!
Kinda funny that I actually missed the new year because I was watching District 9 (on blu-ray
), but lets hope it will be a great year! For the site, I'm sure it is. Now, lets have less drama.

This is What Points is, downloads, etc
Michael
- 12-26-09 14:14 - 12 comments
As you likely have noticed there is a couple new systems called points, buy points and downloads. Basically the downloads will be sorta like a forum. There will be various categories and places where downloads can be uploaded. In downloads (which are not finished being set up yet) you will have many options, one of which allows you to sell the downloads for points.
Now, what is points you ask? Points is a system that is more complex then points, but the concept is really simple. You make posts and you gain a post count, but now, you will also gain points. The amount of points you get varies per forum and per character-count in your post.
i.e.) Lets say you make a post with 2 characters in it. You will get less than one point. This may only show as 0 points until you reach enough to get 1, and to get 2 or 3, etc. But, if you make a post with many characters, you get more points, but don't think you can get away with an unlimited amount in one post. There is a maximum per post that you can get, but basically you get rewarded for posting more quality posts. And if you abuse the system, administrators can deduct your total point count.
Lets say your lazy and don't want to post a bunch. You can click on buy points, select the amount you want to calculate the cost for, and after clicking the "calculate" button, you can see how much it is to you and decide whether or not to purchase points. These can be used to buy specific downloads, and buy items in an upcoming store. There's tons of possibilities...
I won't go on much longer, because I actually have to go out, but if you have any questions, feel free to post them. Oh and you can donate your points, but as I said, don't abuse the system, beg for points, etc. or you will get punished. Premium and Decadent Contributors will get a discount when purchasing points with PayPal.
We used to have a points system that got abused and was completely useless, but this one is much better, improved and will be put to good use. Enjoy and happy holidays!

So to kick off the holidays or kinda end them I have decided to hold a graphic of the week contest. This week I'll be honest I don't have anything of much value. So it's for the honor of winning. I'll provide a render each week or at least a topic and you can choose what you do with it. I would prefer if you didn't put your user name in it but I really don't mind. All submissions are due by the next Friday at 12 o'clock. We'll have voting and a winner will be selected. Pm me you graphic. Size isn't an option just don't have it huge. Have fun with it and be creative.
So this week's is an ODST Render I found. So put it in a sig and send it to me.
